I've got the engine and tranny, now I just need the "extra".
All items originally come from '92-95 Civic VX hatchback:
1.) 5-wire O2 sensor (mine has 4-wire, possible to add the last one?)
2.) anything else to make this swap happen I left out.
shipping will be to 27028

You're gonna get boned on the 5 wire, :(

Dunno... I found one for $25 on honda-tech.
I have a spare 5-wire o2 that has 2mm long wires. I might be able to solder new wires on it for ya.

You can find anything used for cheap if you look long enough, but personally if I were already buying one I'd go new because I just don't trust widebands.
Get OEM/NGK/Denso, not bosch, by the way.

10-4 on that one...I only use NGK/OEM electrical/emissions parts since the days of my Datsun Z/ZX, and haven't had a problem since. Mak
If you can Matt, I'd appreciate it...I've just started to wire solder myself...need to get practice in before the swap. I've heard I can just add a wire to the ECU and run it to the O2 but I can't remember my source.

2.) EGR Box
Got it, give me an offer and I'll box it up for you tonight. Heck I'll even toss in the harness side of the connector. =)

Wait a second... do you have the entire engine harness for the z1? If you do it will be MUCH easier... well, maybe not.
The easiest way is to send ryan at rywire your engine harness from the CRX and the d15z1. For $190 he can make a hybrid harness that will be plug and play.

I only have the HF harness, still attached to the car. The Z1 engine was complete w/ sensors but the previous owner used the harness for a GSR swap. I have misc. obd1 plugs from the junkyard, haven't sorted the haves from the have nots yet. Really could use a picture reference for these plugs or else I'll have to use a HELMS and count pinouts. I might post a pic up tomorrow if I get in early enough.
Bunger: How does $20 shipped sound? I use USPS for my stuff, they are reliable as any w/ shipping confirmation and I bought a cheap scale recently just to do more accurate estimates using their site. Besides, they bring me the mail anyway...

Thats cool with me. I also have a complete Z1 engine harness. Interested?

had I known this I would have purchased it from you.
It might be a bit more expensive, but if you dont like wiring I'd recommend buying the z1 harness and having rywire create you a custom harness

I may not need it if I got the right plugs from the J-yard last week. I literally took snips and clipped every plug from a '93 Coupe that was left and/or wasn't mangled (it was too bashed and stripped to tell if it was EX, DX, etc) $15 bucks worth. Still don't know if I got what I need but I'll sort it out soon. What would be your price (shipped) for the harness just in case? (+$20 for the EGR Box). I figure the ECU conversion harness is $110~ and I'll still need Distributor/VTEC/VTEC oil psi plugs so maybe the price of the harness + $190 might be more cost-per-hour-of-frustration effective. Ha, only in a Honda will the wiring cost more than the engine itself...Mak
p.s. -- I'm still holding out on a local guy parting out his VX, may get all of the motor/wiring bits and with no shipping! We'll see...

If you have the right plugs you might want to contact Rywire and tell them that you have the plugs and want them to make a harness for you. Explain your situation and they'll probably be able to help.
The problem still exists however that the VX engine has more parts/wires than your CRX. This means you're going to have to run 4 wires for the o2 sensor (you'll use the existing one wire for the fifth). You'll have to run at least one wire for the EGR valve, one for the EGR control box, one for the vtec oil pressure, one for the vtec solenoid.
So either way you're going to have to run a number of wires.

so long as it's "a number" and not "numerous" I think I can swing it. A few wires, fine...64 wires...not with my schedule. Mak

If you don't want to contact rywire I'll contact them for you and ask what they'll offer considering you might have all of the plugs.
I can take pictures of the needed plugs sometime soon.

pics of the plugs I need would be very helpful...I basically have several I know not what they are for, just that they came off the right year car, but some were missing from that harness. If I had pics I could make a checklist of every plug needed, sort through what I have and then go back to the Yard for what's left. I didn't want to contact rywire until I had all my ducks in a row, mainly determining whether I needed to purchase an ECU conversion harness and do the rest myself or go to the shop and pull the Hf harness + misc. obd1 plugs and send it all in for plug n' play with cost, time (I only get out to the shop about once a week, twice at most currently until school gets out next month), and my skills all being determining factors. I had hoped to have all the parts needed for this swap ready by the last week of July, then I could go full speed into the swap before Fall semester kicks in during late August. To summarize, I would recommend that no one attempt a budget build FE swap while in school, esp. if they work as well like I do. Time is my least plentiful asset currently, with money as a close second. Mak

Updated...I won't need the EGR box after all Bunger, although finding a buyer in this Z1 swap heavy board won't be hard. Thanks again, Mak

MakDiesel: I don't want to bum you out, but welcome to life. My primary problems are a combination of not enough time and not enough money. Best of luck to you!

It was more of a vent, I realized the situation long ago and am too impatient/passionate to not work on a car. Plus gas is not backing down anytime soon, so the faster I get this swap done, the more I will reap the benefits, and begin tweaking a new project. Mak

it's been two months, still no 5-wire. I had one in the bag for $35, but then the formally-active seller ceased to exist on Redpepperracing.com (Still wondering on that one). Anyway, I expect Paypal to refund me and I'm still searching.....the biggest thing is price; I only spent $170 for the entire Z1 engine so I can't rationalize even a third of that being the cost of a single sensor (I know what new ones cost BTW...ridiculous precious metal mphmth...) so I'm still in the market...Mak
PS. In other news, the harness has been updated, the motor is in minus one mount, and the suspension is coming together...w/ the sensor she'll fire by Jan.!
