Good writeup on these, more links included, and pics!
"The standard version is expected to ship in the third quarter. According to Brammo, the bike goes from zero to 30 mph in a superfast 3.8 seconds. You get to go up to 45 miles per charge, at a speed of 50 mph. The battery charges fully in three hours from any regular outlet."
At $12k?
Certainly not directed at the regular motorcycle market.
Usually, performance is the best defense for a motorcyclist too against drivers in cars.

45 miles AT 50 mph?
or should that be: operators choice of 45 miles at a slower speed OR 50 mph for a shorter distance?

I was thinking about how much it would cost to make an electric motorcycle from scrach, I figured about $2,500 for a brand new 2007 ninja 250, then sell the engine (Ebay $300) bringing it down to $2,200 lets say you get a nice motor that costs as much as $1,000 and another $1,000 for controller and charger, and go all out and get some nice lithium batteries could set you back as much as $3,500 for 100amp hours (usable!) at 36v, that should give you over 100 mile range at 50mph if I did my figures correctly, and for less then $8,000, of course it would be with expensive new parts, and I'm sure you could find a number of people on electric vehicle forums that for a small fee would put it all together for you, it really makes me want to start an electric motorcycle compeny, but on the other hand, electric bicycles are so simple!
