i finally get to buy my first bike: 250 ninja [ Archive] - GasSavers.org - Helping You Save at the Pump

i should start out by saying i havent bought it yet, but i did sell my car two weeks ago. i have been riding my bicycle to work the passed two weeks totalling about 40miles a week and it is getting tiresome, however i really do not want to buy a car yet.

i tell a good friend that he should sell me his 250 and he agreed!!!! it turns out he was looking to sell it anyway and offered it to me at a decent price. i agreed as long as it is turn-key when i buy it. so hopefully next weekend he will have it in good enough condition to sell to me and i will be able to pick it up and start riding!

i still plan on riding my bicycle at least 20 miles a week, however now i will not have to borrow the wife's car to get to classes in philly on thursdays and i will be getting 70+ mpg while i am doing it!

Don't forget to turn on the heater during the winter. How does it handle in the snow? Are you planning to use public transportation in the winter? Just a few questions that came to my mind.

Yeah, rare for snow to hit before Christmas and I guess you have the wife's car as a backup. You might want to consider a heater vest though and thick gloves for fall riding, but you'll figure out real quick how cold even dry 70F air can feel with full length clothes on at 55MPH really soon :D .

I am near Philadelphia, PA. I've been riding two-wheel vehicles through the winter ever since I got my license back in 2001. As long as the roads are dry I'm riding even in 20 degrees..

Small bike like a Ninja 250 should have no problem in the winter... get some handguards, electric jacket, latex gloves under winter riding gloves, little heat packs for hunting to put inside boots or gloves.. helmet liner and you're good to go for at least 6 hours.
