Very cool. Makes me think I could attach a plastic tub to my car's rear.
From the trucker's website, Waggoners, it appears that there were cars inside that trailer :

Enclosed Transport Equipment
The Waggoners Trucking operates the largest and most modern enclosed automobile transportation fleet in the nation. The majority of our enclosed equipment consists of 8-car Nuvan units, as well as other Waggoner-designed, specialized equipment.

I've seen these on Con-Way Freight trailers in plastic.

The trick is that they have to be adjustable for the trailer wheel's sliding position (fore-aft) -- if equipped. Over that many miles, is has to help...

Cool boat-tail. And when you get where you're going, you've brought your hot-tub with you!

I've seen that on trucks carrying expensive cars :p
Unfortunately, they typically have flexible sidewalls... Not exactly good for aero :/

Could ya elaborate on that? Is flexy stuff worse than nothing in terms of aero, or just worse than a rigid boattail?

It's not worse than nothing - nothing will basically inflate apparent cross section area. It is worse than a rigid side as seen on pretty much all other enclosed semi truck trailers.

I believe that the sidewalls are there to protect pedestrians, cyclists and small cars from getting run over by the rear wheels. That's why they are flexible. You see these often on European trucks.

?? Which part are you talking about?
I'm talking about the main side walls of the trailer, above the wheels and such. The part that has "wagoners trucking...." and logo bit printed on it. They likely roll it up to safely remove the cars inside....

I was talking about the sidewalls that extend from the load floor downwards from in front of the rear wheels up to near the cab.
