About a month ago I posted that I'd put a new grill treatment on my car and promised to post some pics. Better late than never?

Stock Volvo 240 front end, '86 - '93
http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z11/brucepick/FrontClipStock.jpg

Dark blue front panel is 2.7 mm. Lauan plywood. Diagonal opening is my attempt to honor the Vovo "slash" used on all Volvo grills. Top and bottom edges are cut curved in order to result in a flat line after curving the panel, similar to a windshield curve.

Primed with oil-base house paint and sprayed with Duplicolor. Pinstriping from Autozone, don't remember the brand, that was about $6. There are two strips of 1" wide plywood going across the back for additional strength, at top and bottom. Weldwood contact cement to stick them on. Curves were cut with box cutter after trial-and-error using cardboard and coroplast trial sheets.

Headlights buckets are NOT stock Volvo and are from an earlier mod project. Aquired from a '93 or '94 Isuzu pickup truck. Reflector and lens housings are Euro-spec, commonly called e-codes. Put out far more light than the USA-DOT spec.

nice bruce. even if some think this to be ugly, as long as it's effective...so what!

no digi cam but it's very similar to yours but with no volvo swoosh and it has round headlights

Clencher-
I just read your garage entry details.
DIY round headlights - cool!
Ya gotta get a friend to shoot some digital pics and post them. I'd love to see how it looks. There aren't too many of us cobbling together glass-lens headlights to replace lousy fogged plastic ones!

Or maybe a cell phone camera.

I think it looks cool. Gives the car a "batman mask" look, :D .
