moon caps? [ Archive] - GasSavers.org - Helping You Save at the Pump
View Full Version : moon caps?
will moon caps actually help my mileage? I have heard of people covering the holes in their hub caps with tape and painting them and all. will this yield better mileage and by how much.
also, does anyone know where you can get plastic or cheap moon caps? the ones I have found are $100 or so and they are chrome or polished aluminum. they look great but I am cheap. I don't want to just tape up my hub caps because I want them to look half way descent.
I guess my big question is, is there a niticeable difference by just putting on these hubcaps?

I was searching for an idea I saw a few years ago .. rubber brake dust covers to do the same idea as moonies .. I came across this site http://www.autopartsdeal.com/catalog/?Ne=28&N=9180 should do the same idea ... it seems pricey
edit .. just checked , price is for 2

http://www.gassavers.org/showthread.php?t=5642&highlight=diskThis older thread may be food for thought.
I read up on this thread and found that the gains are 2-3 tenths of an MPG. I don't know if these numbers are right but they seem pretty low to me. they don't justify me doing all of the work for that. I do like the look of the moon caps but I can't bring myself to put that kind of cash into something that is just for looks either.
