Pedestrian/Bicycle Counting
So, I was thinking on my drive home form work today that I am going to start keeping track of the # of pedestrians and # of cyclists I see on the road. I drive a good portion of my commute in a urban/semi-urban area so seeing bikes/peds is fairly common (but there isn't so many that it would be hard to count).
I would love it if other people on the site would count the pedestrian/bicycles during there commutes. Obviously some people live in areas where there is too many ped/bike to count and others live in country of hardcore suburbs and probably never see a ped/bike. I think to would be interesting to see how many people are walking and biking in different areas.
Tune in tomorrow for the report.

I see between 2 and 4.... Two being my buddies that I ride with
It shouldn't count for me though - my driving commute would be ~2.5 miles I love living so close. I don't need a $60 parking pass and I save a crap load of short trips on my car - almost all of the miles in my sig come from commutes less than 5 miles each

I drive 23 miles to work and don't recall seeing any cyclists/walkers. However I will keep my eye out next time. Of course there won't be too many on my way to work, as that will be midnight. Maybe there will still be some at 10AM though.

I bike with my boy in his seat up front to places like the playground, the park, the library and the supermarket. Now and then I see other people on bikes, but I would say only every other day or so and then it's usually people that don't look like they are commuting but more biking for fun.

I'd guess that I see about a bike every 10-20 miles I drive. And maybe twice as many pedestrians. Maybe I'll remember to check when I go to school tomorrow.

Yesterday was such a glorious day. Saw at least 6 cyclists and 6 walker/runners. Only one of these 12 people were in a town. The rest were on the roadway in between towns in the countryside. The one cyclist I saw in town rides his bike more miles than his car by a factor of about 5.
