Though we like the car, we've decided that it needs more fixing up than we want to do. Looking for $600. We're in the Dallas Texas area.
The good
------------
Car is currently licensed and inspected, and the emissions/safety inspection is
good thru July 2007.
Windshield is flawless (thanks to having had to replace it
)
Rest of windows are tinted. We like tinting to keep out the sunlight,
and not to keep people from being able to see in, so it's the lightest tint.
And it's a good tint job-- no bubbles, fuzziness or peeling edges.
Body is in good shape-- no rust (been in the south all its life),
only dents are door dings, all exterior lights and lenses are good.
Interior is clean-- no stains, seats in good shape, no rips, holes or worn spots.
Front seats have seat covers.
Tires are fairly new-- one is brand new. Anyway, uses about the cheapest
size there is for tires.
No power windows, no power steering, no power locks. (Some would think
those are bad things of course.)
We put in a halfway decent radio: Pioneer DEH 110 (I think). Yes it plays
CDs and yes it all works. No it doesn't do MP3. Still have the factory
radio too if that's really wanted.
We also have a nice manual-- Ford's official 1990 Festiva Car Shop Manual.
The bad

Engine needs overhaul-- burns oil (blue smoke), cyl 4 is weak. 172K miles.
Auto tranny loses fluid but otherwise seems ok.
Radiator partly plugged. Rigged it so fan runs all the time.
A/C is R12. Still works but quit working for a while on a longer trip
on a 100 degree day.
Catalytic converter needs replacing? (Car didn't pass NOx emissions test)
CV joints click (not too expensive to fix, fortunately-- parts about $60 each)
Brake pads worn (no big deal if replaced before pad entirely gone)
Maybe this car is a candidate for conversion to manual tranny?
Paint is still ok (blue, if that matters to you)
but not great (original paint was low quality)
Dome light cover wouldn't stay on, and got lost
Doesn't have cruise control, wiper delay, night flip switch for rear
view mirror. Has those miserable automatic motorized shoulder belts
the govt mandated in the late 80s and early 90s.
