I plunked down my money and finally got a set of the (advertised as) LRR Viva 2s made by Goodyear and sold through Wal Mart. After just a day running them I think I can see a difference. Pumped them up to the full 44 psi and going by the seat of the pants feeling, mt truck seems to coast much better than before. They're also narrower than my previous tires, 205/70 15 versus 215/65 15, so I don't know which it could be, better LRR or narrower profile. Could be both. The new tires are 3/10th of an inch larger in diameter which, according to an online tire calculator, will put my speedo off by 1%. I'm getting better mileage acording to my SG but the weather is also warming up quite a bit and it could be attributed to that.
Wow, Viva 2's are low RR? I just bought two Pilot Exaltos (sp) to replace two Viva 2's One was dry rotted and leaking, and I don't change only one tire (always in pairs - the one changed was plugged anyway )....
Where do I find the RR ratings? The pilot's were top rated in class on tirerack.com and moderately priced ($100/ea).
Goodyear advertises them as LRR. Hopefully they're telling the truth. I didn't find any user tests stating yay or nay on the LRR but we'll soon find out.
Not the Vivas, but I just got my LRR Kumho 795s (155/80r13) and expected a noticable 'center strip' or 'bar' type of tread, but it just looks like normal notched tread to me. Hope they perform like people talk about them (they were also just discontinued). Already had them mounted up to the VX rims...just waiting to get my car back from the garage to get them on the Xtiva.
Checked Walmart on line and didn't see an option for the Vivas in my size. Must be more of a midsize/larger car tire.
