scangauge in!

Got the scangauge in last night. Going to church I had it in GAS mode and it would turn off during my eoc's. Averaged 34.5mpg going. Reset to return home and figured out how to switch to hybrid mode. Got 39.3mpg returning home. There are more EOCs going I would think I could get around 41mpg. Looks like I'm getting about 38-39 in town and around 44mpg on the highway. MY IAT sensor reported a high of 101 degrees F so I'll be further improving the HAI. I'm already schemeing a way to buy the other 2 partners out. Also my garage was only 58 degrees so I'll be wanting to improve that.

Sweet dude, the scangauge is the bomb.

Now you can do all sorts of neat testing and all that, be sure to keep us in the loop. Are you running a block heater?

not yet I'm going to get one hopefully. $38 is the price I found. I thought that they cost more. The great thing about is it flush mounts to the block and I don't have to drain the coolant.

Have you seen the "oil pan heater" thread? I think these external heaters are discussed there, and it sounds to me like you might want to hold out for a real heater that acts on the coolant directly. From a heat transfer point of view, there's no way those stick-on heaters can be as efficient as the kind you mount internally.

The best ones are those that look like canisters and circulate the coolant as they 1500W heat it,

okay I looked at the coolant heating style warmers. I'll probably go that route. The exposed open element might not play well with my planned belly pan.
