| Modifications |
Remedial repairs and corrections to factory deficiencies have set me back $5800 so far. Among those:
Oct., '08: $250 for a right front upper leading control arm (there are 7 more of these waiting to go bad),
Feb., '09: $3000 for a geared balance shaft system replacing the chained system (or the chain breaks and destroys the engine), but that included timing belt, belt tensioner, water pump, alternator pulley.
Feb., '09: $200 for flush and re-fill of VW specific, $12 a liter, "lifetime" (HAH!) transmission fluid.
June, '09: $250 for steel glow plugs and the re-program of the ECU to operate them (or the ceramic plugs break and destroy the engine),
July, '09: $80 for the bearing for radiator clutch fan,
Dec., '10: $1375 for camshaft, cam followers, cam bearing bolts, injector rocker bolts, right outer C/V boot.
Aug., '11: $500 for two control arms, (one was replaced Oct. '08), yet another right outer C/V boot (see Dec. '10), front brake pads, |
| Planned Modifications |
| None, I can't afford them with the "unplanned" modifications I need to do to keep this pig on the road. |
