| Description |
I picked this up recently. I'll see how it does. It had xx270 miles at the time of purchase. It had xx385 miles after the first fill-up. It had xx517.7 miles after the second fill-up. It had xx730.2 miles after the third fill-up. PROBLEM: My odometer is flipping out (literally). I know I did not ride 400 plus miles on a single tank. I'm going to log it, but I must solve this problem. On the plus side, I now have reason to believe the the odometer reading is much higher than the actual miles on the scoot.
EDIT: Problem solved - odometer readings recorded above have been adjusted.
It had xx857.4 miles after the fourth fill-up. It had x1006.6 miles after the fifth fill-up. It had x1168.4 miles after the sixth fill-up. It had x1304.3 miles after the seventh fill-up. It had x1490.9 miles after the eighth fill-up. It had x1626.4 miles after the ninth fill-up. It had x1806.9 miles after the tenth/eleventh fill-up.
There is a gap in my records here because I was not logging fuel economy while the scooter was mostly parked (cold weather and exhaust gasket replacement). The log recommenced at x2004.5
It had x2149.9 miles after the "twelfth" fill-up. It had x2233.2 miles after the thirteenth fill-up. |

- body work
--first attempt: I stripped the hand painted black off of the "kick panels". I also repaired the hole/dent in the "hood". I epoxied all points that were compromised by cracks and applied body filler conservatively. I resprayed the silver parts with blue flake base. I tried a clear, but I didn't like it. So, it is without a clear. I also resprayed the black parts black. Finally, I resprayed the navy blue with Krylon Fusion plastic paint (blue). I still have a few parts to finish, but it looks okay thus far.
--second attempt: I dropped the scooter yesterday. I wasn't riding it, just removing it from the center stand. It didn't fall hard, just sat on its side. There was a few scratches on the side rail and on the already broken rear turn signal housing. The front fairing received a scratch as well. So, today I replaced the turn signal and housing (I purchased one on eBay recently) and resprayed the side rail and cowling. I also refinished the muffler and cover. It looks better now than it ever has.
--addendum: My scooter trunk finally arrived. I refinished it this morning and had it on the scoot this afternoon. It looks good. I am curious about the extent to which it will affect my fuel economy. |
