Description
Vivid Blue Pearl 2005 Civic Si hatch, bought in October 2008 with 16,077 miles on it. It has 50,050 miles on it as of 10/8/2009. The car is bone stock except for the AEM V2 CAI (see modifications, below).

2.0L DOHC 16V i-VTEC I-4, 5-speed manual.

I average 30-33 spring-fall, although I get getting 27-30 during the winter months. My driving is about 60% highway.

2005 EPA Ratings: 26 City / 31 Highway / 28 Combined
Modifications
29,356 miles
K&N Air Filter

33,192 miles
New Yokohama YK520 BW, size 205-55R-16. These 60,000-mile tires are far better than the original Michelin Energy MXV4 tires. I still like Michelins, but the Energy MXV4 model tire does not work well on this car.

42,170 miles
AEM V2 Cold Air Intake (replaced original air box and K & N filter). The ad claims it adds 17.5 horsepower. I believe it. The throttle response is much improved across the rev range, but especially so above 4,000 RPM. It is not louder below 3,000 RPM, unless you give it a lot of throttle. However, the engine sounds much throatier. Above 4,000 RPM, it positively screams. The ad claims that the dual-chamber design helps high-RPM power AND low-RPM torque. I have noticed a 0.5-1.0 mpg improvement in mixed driving, not enough to be definitive.

50,855 miles
Scangauge II with X Gauge. My new toy.

50,985 miles
K & N tapered round (cone-style) Air Filter for the AEM intake. The original filter, while longer and larger in diameter, did not stop the dirt as well. I could see some making it through the thin filter element. I think my power is down a bit, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I already had the K & N cleaning kit, anyway, whereas I would have had to buy a special oilless cleaning kit for the AEM filter.
Planned Modifications
Valentine 1 radar detector
DC Sports 4-2-1 stainless header
Cat-back exhaust system
ECU reflash (once the car's warranty expires)
