I wanted cheap transportation once my Civic Si was totaled. Purchased my 2nd teal green del Sol on 11/29/2011 with 131,794 miles. At 151,020 miles, I sent the car to have a D16Z6 engine from a wrecked 1995 Civic EX installed. There was nothing wrong with the original engine, but I got a good deal on the Civic engine, so I decided to go with the more powerful engine. I stuck with the original Civic DX/LX/Del Sol S transmission, which has taller gearing than the Civic EX/Si/Del Sol Si transmission.
