Description
First owner liked to drive hard, and this particular Celica is the kind with the flared out "hoods" over the wheels, mag wheels and fat tires. After he wore out the original engine, he replaced it with an '85 model engine. (So I feel justified in using the EPA mileage figures from 1985.) This was one of those Japanese cars that wasn't so good at dampening engine vibrations. We put in our own home made engine mounts which helped, but the real problem is at 2.4L the engine is too big a 4 cyl not to have some sort of counter rotating crankshaft or something to cancel out the vibration, and Japanese automakers weren't doing a good job of that in those days. Some years after we bought it, the differential destroyed itself, so got another from a junkyard.
Modifications
Home made engine mounts.
Grill block.
Blank magnetic sign covering the sunroof. Stops it from leaking.
Planned Modifications
The attachment points for those wheel hoods are perfect for some sort of aerodynamic wheel skirt.
