Description


I bought this car with the intent to have a car that would be slower, and not as easily profiled by the police than my previous one (1995 Acura Integra of the same year and color).

I found it with a new paint job, and a dirty interior, for a steal at $2000. I had to drive about 12 hours round trip to pick the car up in NY, but I think it was worth it. When I test drove the car, I loved the acceleration and quietness of it even though it has such an economical drivetrain.

When purchased, it had 238k miles on it, but within a few months, I put another 4k miles on it and realized it smoked enough that it was time to look for a replacement. The car got an amazing 45 miles per gallon combined between taking some 3 hour road trips to the beach and with driving on rural roads, so I knew I wanted to stick with the d15z1.

I found one with reportedly around 120k miles on it, so I bought it, replaced many of the gaskets and wear items, and installed it with a new clutch.

Modifications
Apexi World Sport exhaust
Koni Sport (yellow) struts with custom extended upper strut mounts - Maxspeed/Ground Control coilover springs
Added Antenna/radio/speakers
Center arm rest
Intermittent wipers (entails control box and stalk, very easy, HUGE improvement!)
Del Sol seats (more supportive, comfortable, and much lighter!)
Exedy Stage 1 clutch disk with OEM pressure plate
OEM style fog lights (they do block some air from getting in the bumper?)
OEM Honda-Access (JDM) window visors
Energy Suspensions Polyurethane bushings for: lower engine torque mounts, shifter stabilizer
Skunk2 short-throw shifter

MPG Mods:
Hot-air OEM intake mod for colder months
Tires to max sidewall PSI+
Windows up as much as possible
Cleaned IACV
Running OEM spec plugs/new OEM plug wires
5w-30 Synthetic Oil - 10k mi change/5k mi filter changes
Sea-foam treatment per-10k mile oil change
OEM VX grill block - NOT the one pictured
OEM VX rear diffuser
OEM VX front lip
Planned Modifications
Matching, narrower tires that are LRR after these wear out. Probably another 15k miles until that happens...
Need to do the valve lash adjustment... Never did it since I installed the motor 20k miles ago.
