Description
New to me with 168,000 miles on her. Experiencing variable idle [600rpm-1300rpm] and a bit of sluggishness on slow acceleration. Getting between 30 & 40 mpg, but I know she can do better. Hoping a new 02 sensor will help her out. Had her up on a lift and saw no sign of accident and almost no rust at all, except for a tad surface rust on the rear arches. Original dealer decal was from Huntsville Alabammy. I think its been in Indiana for the last 3 or 4 years. When I got her the paint was oxidized beyond repair, no amount of rubbing was going to restore a shine so I had Maaco throw some paint on just to protect the steel and repair the arches. Documented previous owner repairs include a new timing belt and water pump, new plugs [ZFR5F-11 maybe if I'm reading it right], PCV valve, distributor and rotor, plug wires, fuel filter, valve cover gasket, outer cv boot kit, alignment and A/C rebuilt. I added a new TPS to try to correct low accel lag and am on the verge of throwing an O2 sensor at her to see if it'll straighten her out. I am open for suggestions! New EACV fixed my hunting idle. She seems to be running great now!!!
Modifications
The biggest fix for getting my mileage in line has been getting the timing belt installed correctly. I went from running in the 40s to running in the 50s.
Planned Modifications
Stock VTX rims if I can find some locally. Maybe coroplast the grill and under carriage once I get the mileage up.
