09/02/2007 0.5485 0.01 1Spacer 254.85
09/01/2007 0.5485 0.01 1Spacer so you can see the improvement I had.54.85
08/10/2007 567.5 10.346 0BEST EVER TANK :D I could have (just) done 700 miles if I had gone to the end of the tank.54.85
07/25/2007 409.8 7.733 0BEST TANK EVER :D52.99
07/15/2007 375.4 7.487 0BEST EVER TANK!!! Slightly over half a tank for 375 miles :O I filled as I went to a town where the fuel was a lot cheaper, so I had to fill. This is my best ever tank. This is also my first tank to break 60mpg (imp) and 50mpg (US) :D50.14
07/08/2007 389.9 8.343 0Trying out new techniques - very good mileage considering my average speed was about 10mph faster than usual (this was motorway driving)46.73
07/07/2007 458.5 10.285 0Half Motorway Eco-driving (50mpg US), second half fast driving with no fuel saving (due to being too tired!)44.57
07/06/2007 463.8 10.211 0Local driving (lots of it)45.42
07/03/2007 486 11.897 0Commuting. One brake badly seized (car jacked up = difficult to turn wheel by hand!). Brake seized from just before this tank started, up until about 400 miles :(. Fixed now. Edit - this took 1.7% from my 'above EPA' value.40.85
06/17/2007 380.3 8.087 0Highway - fairly good weather - economy driving (and about 20% fast driving too). (Also experimenting with different techniques). Discovered that having the interior fans on even the lowest settings makes the car use 25% more fuel at idle, and also enriches the mixture by about 5% (?!).47.02
06/15/2007 636 14.41 0First 400 miles - highway - severe crosswinds + torrential rain - standing water everywhere. A struggle to get good MPGs Next 236 miles - mountain roads with very heavy traffic - difficult to hypermile. Still a good tank despite the conditions :)44.13
06/14/2007 356.8 7.535 0Commuting - car seemed to be running rich for the last two commutes for some reason47.35
06/06/2007 457.4 9.221 01st real tank with SuperMID being used to get better economy :) and I did quite well!49.60
05/31/2007 243.2 5.54 0I expected it to be significantly worse - my engine block heater is seized again and needs a full service, so this hasn't been used at all. Also a significant amount of traffic-jam and high speed driving. Edit - discovered at the end of June that the EBH was working but the pump rotor wasn't attatched properly (due to a rusted clip). EBH wasn't used between now and the end of June 2007. 5.74 fuel changed to 5.54 to counterbalance the previous optimistic tank.43.89
05/20/2007 110.1 2.282 0My first tank with SuperMID - initial tank for configuring it. The readings it gave were completely uncalibrated (showed 2x the consumption it should, as it is set up for small Prius injectors initially). I just aimed to 'get better + better average'. I cannot believe the jump, given this was a 'testing' tank and not a pure economy driving tank :S P.S. This contained a 23-mile 62.2mpg (from cold start) segment; this was with 700 feet altitude loss - what a difference that makes :) 2.082 fuel used changed to 2.282 due to optimism of this tank.48.24
05/18/2007 551.4 12.814 0$7.48 US, per US gallon, and rising fast :) Pure commuting again, and this is my best tank with this kind of driving - it is a tiny bit worse than my previous best, but my enging block heater still doesn't work, and the weather has been very bad.l43.03
04/28/2007 439.1 11.02 0Engine block heater still not fixed, and a significant part of this tank was driving at high speed.39.84
04/23/2007 268.1 7.052 0Lots of short journeys. About 10% less than I would have liked - but as my engine block heater is currently out of service I suppose that makes sense!38.01
04/16/2007 373.6 8.547 7Was my best tank, although my Engine Block Heater has stopped working - did two rushed commutes and petrol gauge dropped quickly. Now my 2nd best tank :)43.71
04/15/2007 234 5.559 0Motorway driving - with passenger42.09
04/12/2007 422 9.49 6.8Best ever tank :). Motorway driving at 55mph - about 8% better than my previous best!44.46
04/11/2007 469.2 10.864 6.96Competition tank. Pure commuting - 10 mile journeys with cold start, and many 0.8 mile journeys too. Despite this, the best tank I have ever got, despite the adverse driving conditions :)43.18
03/30/2007 296.7 7.24 0Lots of cold-start commuting, and also lots of 0.8 miles cold-start journeys :). I also did a busy on-call night with more cold-start journeys, overnight, with little time to get the block heater working for the outward journeys. My aero mods went on about 120 miles into this tank. At the beginning, I did about 40 starter-motor starts while stationary, and warmed up the engine from cold to hot (so cooling fans came on) twice, while doing some more ECU + SuperMID testing. This gave a big drop (worth at least 10-15 miles) on my fuel gauge. This is the best-ever commuting tank I have got, by a very large margin :)40.98
03/24/2007 196.3 5.178 6.8First tank from the FE challenge - all short commutes - the best tank I have got, ever, for this kind of driving :)37.91
03/20/2007 296.4 9.635 6.5Fast driving on motorways, no fuel savings30.76
03/17/2007 412.1 12.0634 6.5Fast driving, on motorways, with very heavy winds and rain, no drafting. Economy extremely good considering this!34.16
03/12/2007 194.6 6.1136 6.5Starter motor testing (replaced broken motor). I cranked the motor 50 times, only leaving it on for about 1 second afterwards (the started was jamming initially but eventually worked normally). The fuel tank level dropped noticeably during this, although the engine was only on 2 minutes. The rest of the tank was fairly economical driving.31.83
03/03/2007 251.4 6.83 6.5My best-ever commuting tank - and I did quite a few drives without using the block heater for the outward journey, and went along a lower-economy route almost half the time, and did many 0.5 miles cold journeys while at work. My Battery replacement seems to have helped a lot for the economy :)36.80
02/22/2007 458.1 14.769 6.5Fast driving, severe storms + wind. the only 'fuel saving' driving was to avoid going into engine enrichment mode. Very good MPG given the above (previously would have got 23-25mpg, as seen at the lowest point earlier in the graph).31.01
02/21/2007 193 4.703 6.5Round trip, some motorway, some country lanes.41.03
02/20/2007 323.8 8.7266 6.570 miles of FASing on a mountain route - after this, high speed on motorway and high winds + rain - still much better than would be expected due to the first 70 miles!37.10
02/15/2007 148.3 4.206 6.5Commuting35.25
02/09/2007 93.1 2.948 6.5Commuting - rear brakes bindingx2 in ice31.58
02/07/2007 147.7 3.58 6.5 41.25
02/06/2007 198 6.03435 6.5Commuting32.81
01/28/2007 381.6 9.5323 6.5Began as best-ever tank, but heavy crosswinds for last 1/3 of journey significantly affected economy.40.03
01/27/2007 413 10.021 6.5Motorway driving - cold weather + rain - yet the best mileage I have ever got for this particular journey.41.21
01/24/2007 263.5 7.395 6.5Commuting, weather quite cold outside. I have recently cut down my overall mileage, streamlining journeys etc. This means less overall petrol but greater difficulty getting high MPG.35.63
01/18/2007 363 11.015 6.5I have reduced my overall mileage, saving overall petrol usage but worsening economy. Roadworks prevent my preferred route being used. Weather getting colder + still bad. SuperMID would have made a big difference to this tank, I think :)32.95
01/10/2007 148.7 3.9075 6.5This fillup was done on the 9th Jan 2007. Commuting over hilly terrain, and having to rush to get to the destination on time. Also rain, and very strong crosswinds, so that I could feel the car slowing down.38.05
01/09/2007 130 3.382 6.5 38.43
01/04/2007 410.4 10.452 6.5 39.26
01/02/2007 420.3 11.53 6.5Gale force headwinds + crosswinds + a lot of driving rain. Not much drafting opportunities either. Economy better than would be expected with these conditions!36.45
12/31/2006 193.3 5.551 6.5Only short journeys, but fuel-economy orientated driving style used. This was my last tank using unknown Air-Fuel Ratio, which has turned out to be 14.5-14.8 :o34.82
12/28/2006 364 9.284 6.5This was some commuting (100 miles worth), and two long 130 mile journeys, both with cold starts. So, in total, 110 miles driven with the engine warming up, and 250 miles driven with the engine fully warmed up. This is the first of my 'lean-burn' tanks. I need my wideband lambda before I dare tweak it again!39.20
12/25/2006 215.9 7.366 6.5A lot of SuperMID testing etc, which brought down the economy a lot (because I was doing lots of cold-start warmups + heavy throttle usage). Also, a lot of commuting which cuts down the economy.29.31
12/19/2006 98.1 2.328 6.5Hypermiler driving - without SuperMID but with CODFISHing etc. Weather very cold outside - ice etc.42.13
12/18/2006 183.2 5.369 6.5Economy driving - block heater installed at end of this tank.34.12
12/15/2006 357.3 13.387 6.4Normal driving, with no fuel saving measures, as well as lots of full throttle testing of SuperMID (with cold starts due to this too). My worst tank for a long time! From now on, my aim is for all tanks / fillups to be above the blue line (this will, of course, require a gradual installation of more modifications to keep up)26.69
12/10/2006 412 10.8587 6.55Economy driving on highway (56mph), but bad weather - rain etc, for over half of the distance. Petrol prices going up again, about 1p / 2 cents every 2 days (per litre) :(37.94
12/08/2006 562.6 17.9075 6.22Very bad weather again, and only doing fuel-saving for the first 30% of the journey. Motorway driving.31.41
12/05/2006 155.7 4.8296 6.22All cold journeys - not perfect fuel saving32.23
12/01/2006 79.3 2.283 6.22This is a record for lots of cold-start commuting, with no highway journeys at all during this stretch. Usually I use between 20% - 50% more petrol doing this (and this was with economical driving as well). (3.785 litres in a US gallon)34.73
11/28/2006 148.7 3.5059 6.22This is a new record MPG for my car. I got about 11% better MPG compared to previously - and my previous best was during the summer!. This was with slightly overinflated tyres, rad block, new thermostat, engine-off-coasting. It was raining lightly. I still think I should be getting better than this :(42.41
11/27/2006 66 1.7199 6.22Commuting from cold starts for 50% of this, economy driving for the other 50% This fill up was actually on 11/28/2006 but the system gets the order wrong.38.37
11/25/2006 472.3 15.577 6.2265% fast driving with standing water on the motorway + gale force headwinds. 35% economy driving 10miles of drag racing! Also had a complete extra leather interior in the car for half of the driving - very heavy!30.32
11/18/2006 320.4 11.598 6.14 27.62

11/11/2006 226.5 9.4082 6.14*********Extremely bad weather, travelling at 70+mph - gale force headwind (50+mph), standing water all over Motorway, etc24.07

10/26/2006 455.7 14.896 3.22This price per unit is wrong. The 6.14 above is US dollars / US gallon - remember I am from the UK where petrol prices are high (and were up to $7.01 recently but fell with the oil prices...)30.59
