It's fine if you can't get equipment to measure things, we're just saying that until you do you should stick to the measured results of other people and not claim your own testing as factual.

j5e: I think it's been decided on here that the tire doesn't bow out, therefore reducing contact patch, because of high pressure, since the steel belting in the tire prevent the tire from physically growing in size, as the steel doesn't morph enough to make that difference.

Also, some have claimed greater traction with the higher inflation, and a police article has also claimed this to be a fact.

SVO: I wonder what the condition's were where they measured. I would think that their would be some kind of variation, where if you went high enough you wouldn't have enough physical rubber on the road to take advantage of the traction available, but at some point as you lower the pressure the sidewalls would become more and more flexing, to where the side walls would heat up and the rolling friction would go up.

Do you have any link to the police article?

Compaq888: I know you don't have a scan gauge, but I appreciate you sharing the information you had, anyway, as I presume everyone else did. From my perspective, my bottom line is that I am not paying nearly what I was, at the pump, every time I put in gas, for every mile I drive. If your paying less, than you were when the tires were at 30 lbs, then I wouldn't change them back.

The police article is somewhere on the site. I lose track of things too easily, I think dan posted it so mehbe he can help out with that. I believe their reccomendation was 45-50 psi in a crown vic with max sidewall pressure of 44.

i only see tanks since november. large climate changes since then and from your data it seems like your coming from the neighborhood of 28mpg from that time, which is still cooler than it is now. i dont see anything but fuzzy logic.

30-28=2.... that sounds about right.

going only 55mph on the freeway and tires at about 35psi, that's it.

Now I drive 65mph, tires at 55psi and have aero mods.
