MPG Directions Wesbite?

I just tried to search for any mapping websites that specifically have a least fuel search option (or words to that effect). Didn't find any. Does anyone know of one? Imagine it's a longshot. Thanks.

be careful because those types of things do not take into account the kind of miles.

experience has taught me to drive different routes. my drive home is longer than my trip to work, but it saves me ~10 to 15 min avoiding traffic(and traffic signals) ultimately saving gas.

I've already used a ScanGauge on the routes I travel frequently, but was thinking of road trips where that's not an option.

I've often thought about this idea, but I haven't found any sites or programs that can do the job. I just guess by looking at the map, or give up and let the GPS take me where it wants to.

OpenStreetMap is an open-source mapping site; perhaps it would be possible to use their data and source to write your own route planner.

i recall using a site that gives 2 different directions. the shortest and alternate toll roads(quickest sometimes)? but, no source, sorry.

There was some website I used years ago that let you specify the speed you travel on different types of roads (highway, major road, minor road, etc). I am wracking my brains for what that was, but no luck. I had dialup back then and it was pretty badly optimized for it so I stopped.

Microsoft Streets & Trips offers a LOT of customization in the routing priorities. I'm not a huge Microsoft fan, but they bought a great product when they bought S&T, and they've continued to improve it rather than hurting it.

You can choose not only fastest vs. shortest route, but you can specify your preference for type of road and how fast you drive on various types of roads, if I remember correctly.
