Well, not exactly. But www.routeslip.com is a great way to track the elevation of your rides and figure out the most efficient ride. It is designed for bicycles so you might want to make a note on your map that this not good for biking on.


My commute to college:

It takes more time using the rural roads but there are certainly less hills.

Consider it constructive criticism, and I understand that it's for biking (and in Beta-testing), so I appreciate its value, but I found myself yelling obscenities at the screen while using this! I expected a mapquest-sytle route finder instead of "as the bird flies" -- expect to enter every turn.

On a 200-mile trip, inputting the the turns would be a nightmare.
For the average daily communte, the extra work would be worth it, but...
It doesn't find the lowest elevation change or most downhill on the ways out and back.
You have to consider the traffic variables using other resources, so you can use your momentum to its advantage.

Well, I like it. And yes it can be a pain mapping out a long route.

It might not be the ultimate, but i challenge anybody to find something better. Because I would love to see it.

I use a program called Delorme Topo USA 4.0 which does a good job of mapping routes and calculating elevation changes.

BTW I just completed a 2,300 mile trip in my Swift. Huge elevation changes and 75+ mph freeway travel and I still topped 45 mpg.

Don't get me wrong Kick, it's a good program and a good tool to find elevation changes in a trip -- in fact, once I stop swearing at it, I'll probably plug-in my usual commutes. I was just in a foul mood whilst using it. Good find.

exact reverse going home, wow you guys have a lot of elavation changes... very cool find!!!! Kinda gets me visualizing my FAS points... although driving on it sure doesn't feel like how the graph inturpets it.
