Broke my longtime MPG & mileage goal
Hi, this is my first post here at gassavers.
I followed a link here from friends of mine, krousdb, philmcneal and decided to join.
I've been training in hypermiling since Feb '04 and finally broke my long time goal:
Driver: Hot Georgia
Miles: 1003.4
Gallons: 13.4
Model Year: 2004
Model: Civic Hybrid
Tranny: CVT
Fuel type: 87 Regular
MPG: 74.9
Additives: none
Speed: About 55 average
Road: 95% highway
Average trip: 47 miles
Beginning ODO 74,823
Ending ODO 75,827
Terrain: Very hilly to/from Atlanta to/from rural N. GA
PSI: 51PSI all the way around (Cold sidewall Max)
Tire: Factory LRR Dunlops (About ready for new skins)
Oil: 0-20w Honda dealer stuff
A/C: None

Whew! I'm ready for another one!
I've also been active around the net showing folks they can dramatically improve MPG in what ever they currently drive.
Glad I found this website.
-Steve

Nice tank! Welcome to the site.
How close were you to running out of gas?

Hurray! Another GA member! Sign up for the GasSavers FRAPPR so we don't look so all alone down here!
Congrats on getting a 1000 mile tank...I'm trying hard for a 500 mile tank (10 gallons)!

Hi Steve,
Impressive mileage. I've seen some of your posts around the net pre-CMPG and GS.
I'm afraid if I were to try for a 1000 mile tank, it would be December before you heard from me again. Don't drive that much
Welcome to the site!

Welcome and Well done man!
Jeez I would just be happy with a 500 mile tank but I think that is unattainable with this car. Maybe the next though....
Again great job!

Could it simply be the tire pressure or have you really broken in the engine very well - Outrageous Mileage MAN!! Nice Going!

My gauge is divided into 20 segments or "bars" and the last bar went out at 992 miles.
In the past I've driven +25 miles past showing empty but didn't want to risk running out the next day. (I've never ran out)
Thanks again!

Steve,
You need to go into your garage and change your vehicle type from gasoline to hybrid. It's difficult enough competing with Aero Civics and crazy Metro pilots.

Welcome Steve! Awesome job! It's numbers like that that pretty well make up my mind that I need to get a HCH2 if I ever get enough money together. After going with Tom, Wayne, and Tony to the meeting in Oak Creek, WI a couple of weeks ago, I came to the conclusion that my type of driving would be better suited to the Honda instead of the Prius. If I lived in a big city I would probably go with the Prius. My dream would be to have an Insight but there are 4 in my family and they wouldn't fit. Again, awesome numbers. Next goal is 1,100 or 1,200?

I'm thinking that the 5MT HCH-1 has more hypermiling potential than the CVT HCH-II. I think that Wayne would agree. A used HCH-1 might replace the VX some day, unless I can find a diesel hybrid instead.

I suppose that since I'm pretty good with a 5-speed that a HCH-1 may be something I could wring more mileage out of. What was the last year for the HCH-1 with a 5-speed?

2005 I think. in addition to the 5 speed, it also had lean burn. The HCH-1 CVT does not have lean burn. The HCH-II only comes with CVT and does not have lean burn either.

2005 it is then. Now, if I can find one on Ebay...

I want a 595 mile tank. Which is 50mpg.
I thought it was 103 miles but looking closer it was 1003 *drool*
