Another way to look at the top 10

I am not suggesting that the top 10 calculation should be changed, I am just posting the standing using my alternate method of calculating the top 10 because I think it is interesting. I recalulated the top 10 not by time (90 days) but by distance (2500 miles) In other words who has the best mileage over the past 2500 miles. Many cars in the actual top 10 list don't make it on my list because they have not yet entered 2500 miles worth of data.

Also interesting to note that most of us will move up one in the standings soon because I assume "Quench" will be dropped from the top 10 soon because its last entry was almost 90 days ago.

That's really interesting! There are so many ways to slice and dice the numbers. And this way has its merits too. I like it.

I guess the advantage to the 90-day approach is it compares cars in the same season (more or less). The 2500 mile approach would skew differently for people who drive a lot vs. people who don't, due to the effect of different ambient temperatures. EG since I don't drive a whole lot, I would have a "summer effect" with the 2500 approach that would last longer into the winter (keeping my avg high as others' start to drop), and vice versa.

What if it were a 2500 miles or 90 days, whichever comes first?

2500 is 30 days or less for me. I love the extremes on this site. They make data collection interesting to say the least.

I drive 500 miles per week...I feel fuelish. That is an excellent way to look at it.

And of course, the better our mileage gets, the longer we go between fillups. I likely could have driven until early November on the amount fuel I still had left in the tank when I gassed up today.

But I try to remember to fill up once a month whether I need to or not.

yeah, this tank is right at 480 miles, I think I have a gallon left...When i first started, that is how I was, the beauty of living on campus.

My entire 5500 mile gas log fits in your last 3 tanks timeframe
