Winter Blend Gas question
Hello -
How would you go about neutralizing the winter blend gas to maintain high MPG? Is this a case where you can justify a fuel additive? install a HAI (Hot Air Intake)? Pick a higher octane?
Also, when does the Winter blend gas kick in? What day or month does it change?

I think the only way to really combat it is by moving to southern california, arizona, texas, las vegas, or Hawaii.  |

IIRC, a lot of those places have "Summer Blends" because of the smog, so I think you're out of luck, sorry. I think the goal is to have a uniform E10 blend in 50-States, year-round.

Here in Indiana the winter "crapoline" goes on sale starting October 1. As for neutralizing it, I'm not sure that's possible. It's blended with more volatile but less energy dense ingredients. It would be like trying to heat your home with newspapers instead of wood but still paying the same price as wood.

If your in Southern CA there a chance you're already burning it. http://www.epa.gov/region4/air/naaqs/reform.htm
I think they're suppose to put a E10 sticker on the pump but not all states require it. My mileage stays the same with ethanol.  |

This is good to know because I can look for the E10 sticker. Since we are logging our miles, we can note this in our comment section. If I try something new when the winter gas hits and I lose MPG, I may throw out an otherwise good idea.
I'm in LA so it does effect me.
Kind of like Daylight Savings Time for GasSavers.
