Good fuel Mixture?

Below is a post from betterMPG group on Yahoo. Sounds like my idea to mix acetone and Coleman fuel wasn't too far off. I just may have only overdid it a bit.

According to LaPointe....

"We prefer to add one ounce of Torco GP-7 or Torco EAL into a 16 oz. bottle of
acetone. This improves MPG and the lubricity of the fuel and also improves the
anti-knock rating both to diesel fuel and gasoline. Shake the contents well just
before you add this nice mix to the fuel. The amount remains 2 oz. per ten
gallons in diesels and 2-4 oz. per ten gallons of gasoline.

In gasoline only, we often add Techron right after the acetone. Techron is sold
in most parts stores as a cleaner. We use 2-3 oz. of Techron per 10 gallons of
gas. It is made by Texaco/Chevron."

* As I figure it (not again!)...he uses GP7 at a 0.2 oz per 10 gallon ratio. *

Somebody tried Torco EAL and couldn't get it to dissolve.

I'd use the GP7 with acetone...using the acetone to carry it. Or mix into some
gas?



Since I didn't keep my mpg gains last year with 3 oz acetone...I'm going to go
with the following...


acetone at 1 to 2 oz per 10 gallons

Coleman's at 1 to 3 oz per 10 gallons

GP7 at 0.1 to 0.2 oz per 10 gallons


Using this along with the ozone air bleed thru the distributor.


Also bought a bottle of Techron to test.


Will also try wrapping the O2 sensor with alum foil.


And am making a spiral muffler...

So far...knock on Al Lumininium...I'm holding a a 25 mpg level...with occasional
outruns into the 28-31 mpg area.

The next step for me is to maybe get a fuel blend going. Any advice for rookies to fuel blending? There seems to be a a variety of choices Coleman's, acetone. Any advice?

My advice would be to jump in there and try it out, and make sure to keep lotsa things constant, because blends testing is a pain in the *** in that way. Start with things that've had lotsa success, I should say, and when you look at comercial stuff, always look at their ingredients.

I agree about it being a pain. If you end up with a mixture that doesn't help mpg or even makes it worse, you have to just drive it out. That's why you want to keep track of what you're adding real carefully. I will see if I can dig up some more info on fuel mixtures. There is a guy on one of the Yahoo groups that usually has some good info on mixtures. I do remember somewhere that mineral spirits may be a good additive especially for winter because of something about higher volatility or higher btu content.

Have you ever tried the old style mothballs?

I've never tried them in the tank. I did try them in an onion bag in my airbox just below the air filter. I had heard that the air with napthalene vapor was more effective than in the gas. My results were inconclusive. I may have to try them in the tank sometime. If you use mothballs, make sure they are the 100% pure napthalene.

Yeah, I will. I'm trying to get all of my physical stuff out of the way (water injection, distributor mod, h2, blah blah) out of the way before I do mixing, cuz that seems very fined tuned and I wanna have my setup down pat first.
