PVC catch device

A link was posted in another thread about this device . How many of you are using the PVC catch device and with what results ? I know the thread is from about 7 months back by SVOBoy . Seems to be a good idea and one I'd invest in (especially since it's so cheap to do ) Thanks !

Somewhere in the thread it noted how many people were running it, but I'm not quite sure. While I am sure that a lot of the honda people are, I also forget who.

it does the most if you clean you the intake manifold right before installation. a lot of oil builds up in the intake manifold after many miles

I've been running one for a little over a year now --

I too installed it after a Seafoam cleanse to start and stay gunk-free.

So far, over about 30K miles, it has collected about 25mL of residue.

I'm not really sure how to quantify the benefits, other than the goop isn't flowing back into the intake, clogging the injectors, and building up carbon elsewhere. Also, it isn't being burned burned-off into the atmosphere, which is also a plus.

I also have been running the El Cheapo catch can since late November with good results. Results as in seeing how much gunk is not going into the intake manifold anymore. I also did a de-carbonizing treatment to my engine before installing it.

The PCV system was designed to collect blow-by vapors that would normally be emitted into the atmosphere, and instead re-direct them into the combustion process and through the catalytic converter on its way out.

With that in mind, I see no reason why the collection of the by-product of combustion would cause a problem, as this device wasn't intended to operate in engine to start with. As long as the PCV valve is operating and allowing gasses to escape, and there's no buildup in the crankcase, the one-way valve system of the collector allows air/gas to flow while cooling the gasses down into liquid form for collection. It must be changed regularly or else the gunk will certainly go directly into the intake. Depending on how fast the bottle fills, I've emptied mine at each oil change (and check it regularly).

Some have a concern that this goo somehow lubricates the top-end during the combustion process, but nearly all modern gasolines have additives that aid in this process.

so how thick is this sludge? and how much do you get every 3,000 miles? I can understand not wanting it to gum up injectors, but I must agree that in my mind the more top end lube, the better off you are, that is why I want to run more tests with veggie oil mixed with your gasoline.
