1986 Honda : CRX-EV

There's a 1986 Honda : CRX-EV currently at $5,800 (more pics here). It's fairly minimal but it is complete. This seller seems to make and sell one of these conversions every once in a while. I think his last one was the 95 red Metro-EV. There's also a Festiva at his site.

This person may be (used to be?) associated with Wilderness EV's : http://e-volks.com/

They used to turn out much cheaper "scrapyard Metro" conversions (a la ForkenSwift) - the "base" model using the J&H motor and a single ON/OFF contactor (with "launch control" achieved using the clutch). I saw several of those sell for around $2500 US.

The more recent Metro, Festiva, Civic & CRX conversions are a little more sophisticated . And the price is pretty good for a conversion with all new parts.

Good for him. I wonder how much he makes on each one.

Thats awesome. I would love to do that for a living hehe. Now how come a car manufacturer can come out with something like that?

is it possible to charge these homemade evs at public ev charging stations?
I know out here in california there are an abundance of free charging stations that are never being used cause no one has an ev.

Only if they're built with the right connectors.

The public charging stations used weatherproof inductive paddles, if I'm not mistaken. Most home-builts just use standard plugs. That's not to say you couldn't equip a home-built with the right kind of hardware.
