SuperMID M-1 Mileage Computer information portal

Temporary updated on July 25, 2008.
The MPG version is comin soon!

Hi all,
Thank you for your interest in my SuperMID Mileage Computer.

I have been receiving a lot of questions about the SuperMID, so I would like to make this thread to inform everybody understand it.
I would like to update this post as much as possible to tell the latest information.
(Maybe, it is poor today. )

* original Japanese site
http://priusdiy.fc2web.com/NENPIKEI.html
An English page is coming soon?

* installation

The interface cable color codes are...
+12V: red
GND: brown
INJ: white
VSS: purple

* operation
- MENU operations including how to set fuel and distance parameters at the bottom.
http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/1...menueng7of.jpg

You have six buttons.
On the right, they are...
from the top
- MENU
- UP
- DOWN
- ENTER

On the left, you have one button.
It is same as DOWN button and it's good for change display channels.

On the back, you have another button.
It is forced reset switch.
It shoud be used for emergency purpose only, such as SuperMID display nothing when power on.
Please note that your mileage record is saved when you do the power off.
For example, you drove some distance and you had some data, then you pushed the forced reset button, you'll see old date which was on the previous power-off ceremony.
Your data, from power-on to some drive, is gone by pushing the foreced reset button (without power-off ceremony).

* FAQ
  • Q: Does SuperMID work on my vehicle?
    A: It works with a vehicle which has an electric fuel injection system and digital VSS(vehicle speed sensor). Please refer to following post.
    http://www.gassavers.org/showpost.ph...4&postcount=14

  • Q: Where can I find the installation tips?
    A: http://www.crxmpg.com/supermid.html
    http://www3.telus.net/metro/mid.htm

  • Q: When the US MPG or UK Imperial MPG unit version is available instead of Japanese km/L unit?
    A: I'm not sure. It won't come at least by June 2008, I'll update here when anything happened. The average speed unit is also km/h only now.

  • Q: Does it have backlit capability?
    A: Yes. It has backlit, and it always lights even in daytime, no switch.

  • Q: Do you have stock for sale?
    A: I have one Japanese km/L version as of March 13, 2008.

  • Q: How much is it?
    A: It costs 20,000 JP Yen including shipping from Japan.
    (It used to be shown as US dollar, but it was risky for me since USD value is decreasing.)

  • Q: Does the PayPal work for payment?
    A: Yes, it does.

Is the MPH unit still expected to come out somewhat soon?

The MPG and MPH version is still on alpha stage.
I'll try to update the status in two weeks.

The current km/h km/L version can be upgraded to MPH MPG display by the microprocessor chip replacement.
My plan is the chip price will be 2,500 JP Yen including shipping from Japan.

Just remember. Where the dollar goes the yen is sure to follow. I'll just wait it out.

I notice you have left the upper right portion blank, on the MPG model, where the injector ms time is displayed on the KM/L model. Any chance you are going to put the gallons per hour there? It would be handy for us folks who are not hypermiling competitors so we could see how many GPH we burn at idle, at idle with the A/C and other testing. The injector ms is handy but is dependent on rpm for comparing gas usage since, as I understand it, it displays injector ms open per revolution.

If you only have three characters to work with and no floating point options you could put hundreths per hour as in 100 would be 1 gallon an hour and 20, .2 gallons per hour

FritzR,
Thank you for your idea.
However, the current SuperMID doesn't count the rpm number to see the GPH number.
I'll try to do my best to implement it on the next version.

Stopping in here to see if the US-MPG unit is ready yet! I'm finally close to a money situation where I can afford one.

he said 20,000 yen in the first post, which would be just under 200 bucks, I'm guessing the 2500 is a grand total of 22,500 yen for the MPG.

I'm assuming though.

It looks like parts, wiring diagrams and assembly are on the site he linked. I assume you need his software still, but looks like information was shared freely.

Was this originally made for a Prius?
