I wish Fiat would start selling cars again in the US. They are much better quality wise than they used to be in those days and they still have light, small new models. Take this new Fiat 500 that will be going on sale soon in Europe. It will have small engine and even a small diesel later in the year, probably doing around 80 mpg (without any hypermiling techniques of course)

Actually if you go to the international fiat website it states that the 500 is prepped and ready to go to usa. but they are still debating whether or not to come back over.

I wouldn't mind one with a nice small 1.2 liter engine or the diesel engine, but yo will always see that even if they do decide to sell that 500 overhere they wil only make the biggest engines available. Just look at VW. The Rabbit is a nice little car which you can get in Europe (as a Golf) with a gas sipping 1.4 engine. And what do they decide to do overhere? Right, only have it with the big 2.5 liter engine in it. Americans have shown so many times that they do not want small cars with small displacement engines that decission makers aren't taking any chances anymore.
