Very nice compared to what's out there but very disappointing from VW. Where's my 1L?

Vaporized. As much as you and I would love it, the fact is that the 1L would never sell enough to make it worth VW's while. That is until gas hits $10/gal...

Reads like it meets emissions at least.

I wonder what the cost would be against a regular TDI.

But Diesel prices suck compared to 87 octane. Station post - $3.05 vs $3.53 for diesel!

Thumbs down 70 mpg been there

The vw rabbit or jetta with a 1.6 lt diesel got exceptionally good fuel mileage up to 70+ mpg. However the market demand was more speed and cruising at the top end of the maximum allowable speed limit so vw and all those other cars that got good mileage had their engine sizes increased for the consumer to be satisfied. If north america could live at a gentler pace we could get by with a smaller engine and still have cleaner air. Won't happen because those in power decide for us.
