OK, I've whiffed twice with diesel tuners. The Granatelli Mileage Miser hurt my mileage and the truck ran like a P.O.S. So did the Superchips tuner. So, I'm going for a full strikeout with the Striker fule economy module. I'll keep you posted.

Sorry, no contest this time. I ran out of money paying for diesel and the other tuners LOL.

This one gives you unlimited options. not whatever they decide your tune should be. I should have mine this week. I had a SuperChip's and it also decreased the MPG.

The module went in last night. It was a simple install, just snapping a bypass harness into the fuel pressure sensor.

Based on what I read, the module fools the pressure sensor to think that the pressure is low, so the fuel pump raises the pressure and lowers the throttle setting. The lower throttle setting then makes the (variable vane) turbocharger open up and reduce manifold pressure, i.e. reduces pumping losses. It also makes the tranny module think the throttle is at a lower setting, causing it to upshift sooner.

I filled the tank last night, and drove it to work this morning. The truck definitely upshifts sooner, and seems to be working harder in the higher gears. For the first time, I think a "chip" is actually going to work. I'll keep you posted.

At any rate, the Striker performance module has been a disappointment. Warm weather is here, but not hot enough to use the A/C. If the module met its 2-3 mpg improvement claim, I would have seen it now. The last tank with Striker was only 19 mpg, mostly highway.

19 mpg was with the Striker module. I expected to see just over 20 like other drives to Maine in warm (not hot) weather. At best, the Striker module didn't actually hurt mileage like the other two systems.

The results are in for the last trip. 19.49 mpg for a long weekend trip to my camp. This was with a bed cover, grille block and 235 85 16 tires and the Striker FE module. This is worse mileage than my typical trip to the camp.

This closes the chapter on 6.0 Powerstroke modules as far as I'm concerned. They do not improve FE.

You working with the wrong stuff.

Go over to the powerstroke.org forums. You can get custom tunes from the vendors there. The trick is to have more boost, less fuel, + a few degrees timing, cetane boost / or BioDiesel, decrease the throttle sensitivity. Only a custom tune will give you this. The Sniper with Delta Force upgrade can or you can buy a custom tune or chip.

Superchips had a new calibration that claimed better mileage. So I downloaded it off their site and onto the tuner. Just installed it in the truck, and fillled the tank. I'll keep an eye on the mileage and let the group know.
