Affordable scanguage?

Hello all. Newbie here, first post here on GasSavers. GREAT forum.

I have a 98 Civic LX auto, and have been tracking my mpgs since I got it. I average about 30 mpg, with my best on an early summer jaunt up and down Rte 476. avgeraging just over 37 mpg . I was happy with my averages for a while. Since discovering this site, im not happy anymore.

I want to do what I can - within my sense of reason and my budget - but i think my first step would be to get a more reliable fuel economy guage - something like the scanguage. The Scanguage II is the only one I have been able to find so far - and $160 is out of my budget right now.

Does anyone know where I can find an affordable fuel economy guage???

Thanx in advance for everyones help.

Well, A plain old $20 vacuum guage will help dial in the best cruise speed, but won't do any logging.

And I never miss a chance to plug my DIY MPG Gauge
http://www.gassavers.org/showthread....=diy+mpg+gauge

it runs on my $20 laptop (133 mhz @ 64 meg ram, win 98) with a few cents worth of electrical parts.

You can try Ebay? If you don't mind a brink, you can also search for the older scanguage-- the first version. Has the same basic features minus new stuff and X-gauge. There is also a seller on another forum who has a used scangauge 2 for 100. If he doesn't have a buyer, I'll give you the link to his classified.

Most I can afford is 50 bucks...

I would love to get the new one, but not enough funds right now (dam kids).

But I would like to start improving my FE, and i would like to measure how each action affects FE. I would love to log- through this site - how much of an improvement can be gained by many of the techniques and upgrades.

I dunno, i guess the question is, whats your price?
Do you have any pics? PM me...
