southeast gas prices wtf!
what is going on with the so called shortage? and prices? i just got back from a road trip from atlanta ga to newyork. i did not fill up with gas leaveing atlanta. stoped in spartanburg sc to fill up and the first few stops did not have gas! i ended up paying 4.09! same price as in atlanta! but when i got to the new york.new jersey boarder i only payed 3.09 for full service!!! what makes it drop a dollar in price? i thought gas would be cheaper in atlanta.

here, in the deep south, i filled up today @ 3.57/gal. i believe historically, georgia is typically cheaper than florida. so, that is very interesting to say the least.

Georgia has a low state fuel tax, Florida's is much higher. When going to Florida I always fillup in the last 30 miles of Georgia whether or not I really need fuel at the time.

3.69 a gallon in columbia as of friday (when I filled up). I'm really starting to wonder how long it really takes to get those refineries working.

I just paid $3.259 today in Front Royal, Va. There was a Texaco priced @ 3.219 but they were sold out of 87 octane. I think that was just due to them being 4 cents cheaper than any other station in the area.

That has to be due to local influences. There is no gas shortage.

Yeah. This one station was selling 87 for $3.219. The next cheapest was $3.259, most of the other stations were in the $3.289 to $3.389 range. I believe this is the only reason they were out of fuel.

Silversol....yea, that trip you made up I-95 from Florida to NY is one of the busyest sections of interstate in the country. The cheapest gas was always in Georgia due to their lower state gas taxes. NJ also has always had cheaper prices than NY. I am surprised they are still affected down there in the southeastern area of the country (especially Ga.) as I read somewhere that the supply lines were up and running weeks ago.
As a comparison, here in Upstate NY it is between $3.39 and $3.50 right now depending on exactly where you stop.

here in Jacksonville, where I assure you there was no shortage of gas, we are still seeing prices from as high as $3.85 to as low as $3.35... While I will admit, we have it easy compared to Atlanta, There is no reason for such a large price difference. Some parts of the country are in the $2.85 range. Is there any justification for any of this? No. They just have a flaw in their delivery method. There might not even be a problem, but there is an excuse. That is all they need to make you bend over...

I live in the Charlotte, NC area and it has been like that ever since Ike hit the gulf coast. They claim it is because the refineries weren't running full steam. We have been dealing with high prices, 1 in 5 stations having gas and long lines for 3 weeks. But guess what, the NASCAR race is at Charlotte Motor Speedway this coming weekend and there will be festivities there all week so they started trucking in gas from the mid west last week. I wonder why? They sure as hell didn't care that we were suffering, but they are afraid of losing a lot of revenue from the race if there is no gas. It's a bunch of BS if you ask me. I hope no one shows up for the race!!!

Yeah it seems that somehow I lucked out and the cheapest gas is around me in Kansas ($2.93 at a station I went by). I have no idea why, though, since most of the refineries are in the south.
At least the crappy economy is dragging fuel prices down with it.

gas around greensboro is around 3.60-3.70 and in rural areas (where I live) are like 3.90.
I wish I could get some sub-$3/gal gas.
